SRINAGAR: Chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday strongly condemned the killing of a civilian Shahid Mansoor at Shopian by government forces, terming the “brutal” killing as a cold blooded murder.
Mirwaiz in a statement said that according to the family of Shahid, he was abducted and later killed by forces.
Terming the killing as extremely barbaric, Mirwaiz said it was a glaring example of how under the grab of infamous and brutal CASO, our youth are being killed and targeted on a daily basis.
He paid tributes to armed youth Shaheen Irfan killed in an encounter in Gagran Shopian and said the “intransigence” of GoI on Kashmir dispute is pushing the youth towards picking up guns.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz expressed grief over the demise of prominent political figure of Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) Sardar Khalid Ibrahim, the son of former PaK President Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan and a close associate of Muhajir-e-Millat Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah.
In his condolence message, Mirwaiz paid tributes to the deceased leader and said his political and social contributions are unforgettable and that he will be remembered for his unflinching stand on Kashmir dispute.
The pro-freedom leader praised Khalid Ibrahim for his “farsightedness” and said he was a great leader who earned name and fame by serving the people of PaK on all fronts in his four-decade long political career.
“Sardar Khalid always stood to his principles and never compromised on his stand on Kashmir dispute,” Mirwaiz said and prayed for the highest standards in Jannah for the deceased.
Mirwaiz also expressed serious concern over the huge losses caused to apple and other crops on both sides of the tunnel including Chenab Valley, south and north Kashmir due to unexpected snowfall. He expressed sympathy and solidarity with the farmers in the present testing times.
“Though natural calamities and fury can’t be avoided, the only way to face these difficult times is to stand strong, united and seek protection for life and property from Allah Almighty,” Mirwaiz said.
