South Kashmir: Government forces killed a civilian during Shopian gunfight, locals say

Srinagar: Government forces on Sunday killed a civilian during a gunfight in Khudpora area of Shopian district.

Locals told Kashmir Reader that the forces killed a civilian during the gunfight and later tried to dub him a militant. The slain civilian, locals said, was identified as Shahid Mir, a resident of Khudpora.

Earlier, police sources told Kashmir Reader that two militants were killed in the gunfight and said that both the bodies were recovered. However, the claims were strongly refuted by the locals.

Meanwhile, the militants killed in the gunfight has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohammad of Bandzoo Pulwama, a resident of Gund Haadu, Memendar Shopian.
