Srinagar: The scholarship program “Encouraging education, Inspiring lives” was held here on Saturday in which students belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) from Kashmir were among the selected.
More than 25 selected students were awarded with the scholarships. The program was conducted under the banner of Shriram Transport Finance Company.
Lakhvindar Singh from the Shriram Finance company said that they have been providing the scholarships all over India, and have conducted the scholarship programme this time in Kashmir.
“This the first time an educational scholarship was held by the company in Kashmiri valley,” he said.
Jasbir Singh Thakur, state head of the company, said that amid the unrest in valley, the students participated in the exam.
“We are keen to look forward and conduct the several social programmes in the Kashmir Valley,” he added.
