Pampore: The councillors for the Municipal Committee Pampore were administered oath of office at the Deputy Commissioner’s office Pulwama on Saturday.
BJP bagged all five seats in the committee, as five candidates in all, including three of a migrant Pandit family and a local woman candidate, had been declared winners unopposed in the local body elections last month.
One of the candidates, who had contested as independent, also joined the BJP. No candidate filed nominations from Khrew seat.
Meanwhile, Malik Mohammad Yaqoob was elected as chairman and Bansilal Bhat as the deputy. Bhat’s wife Kanchan Kumari and son Rohit Bhat have also been elected as councillors.
National Conference and PDP did not participate in the elections while the Congress and other smaller parties did not field their candidates for Pampore Municipal Committee making ground clear for BJP candidates.
