Pattan villagers protest shortage of water supply

Baramulla: Residents of Trikolbal area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are up in arms against PHE department for failing to provide them regular portable drinking water supply.
Scores of residents of Trikolbal including women and children staged a protest outside the village on Friday afternoon against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department against the shortage of portable drinking water supply in the area from past several weeks.
Protesters shouting slogans against the department said that their taps are running dry from past several weeks and department is not paying any attention to solve the problem.
They said they are forced to use dirty water from nearby streams.
Protesters threatened to block the Srinagar-Baramulla highway and department will be responsible for the inconvenience to the public. Later they disperse peacefully.
The residents of other village like Andergam, Goshbug, Rengi and others also complained of acute shortage of drinking water from past several days.
