Kashmir power outage: Electricity restored in Srinagar parts

Srinagar: The power development department on Saturday restored electricity to some areas including tertiary care SMHS Hospital which were facing outage due to damages caused by snow to transmission lines.

A senior PDD engineer who was out in field supervising restoration works said they have restored electricity in Safa Kadal, Fateh Kadal, some parts of Khanyar and Chanapora.
Over 7000 employees have been pressed into service by the government to restore the electricity across the Valley. Just 80 Megawatt power was being supplied across Kashmir against more than 1300 MW due to the damages.

A tranche of Rs 500 crore have been released by the finance department to Kashmir’s power department for carrying restoration works of damaged electric transformers.

    I live in wanbal rawalpora. Here small children have beeb crying because of the freezing cold. Senior citizens have not slept because of the Immense cold and NO ELECTRICITY for 48 hours here. We might have gotten electricity for 2 hours and after the snow it has been completely dark. Please save us.
