PULWAMA: The army detected and defused an improvised explosive device (IED) on the Shopian-Pulwama road in Pulwama district, officials said.
An official told Kashmir Reader that a major tragedy was averted as a patrol party of the army detected the IED planted by militants at Nikas area of Pulwama district.
He said the IED weighed 5-7 kg and was planted in a gas cylinder. It could have caused huge damage had it not been detected timely by the army soldiers.
The bomb disposal squad of the army was immediately rushed to the spot and the IED was defused, SSP Pulwama Chandan Kohli told Kashmir Reader.
