HANDWARA: Police on Friday said they had arrested an Al-Badr militant in Handwara area of north Kashmir. A police spokesman said that on specific information, a joint naka (check post) of the police and 92 CRPF was laid at Chutipora-Handwara crossing at 1430 hours on Friday. During checking, a suspicious person was intercepted. On searching him, a pistol and 2 grenades were recovered.
The person was identified as Sajjad Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Hamid Dar, resident of Rohumu Pulwama. Sajjad had been missing from his home since October 3 and a report to the effect had been lodged at police station Rajpora, district Pulwama, police said, adding that Sajjad had recently joined Al-Badr militant outfit.
A case has been registered in this regard at police station Handwara and an investigation started, police said.
