Budgam: A complete shutdown is being observed in Budgam and Magam towns of this central Kashmir district to protest NIA summon to Shia cleric and Hurriyat Conference leader Aga Syed Hassan in a funding case.

Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that complete shutdown is being observed in Budgam and Magam towns here in response to the call given by Anjuman-e-Sharie- Shian, a religio-political organisation headed by Hassan.

All shops, offices, business establishments and petrol pumps in the twin towns remained closed to protest the NIA summon to the prominent Shia cleric.

Earlier, NIA “directed” Hassan who also is a senior separatist leader to appear before the agency on Friday.

The NIA summon reads, “National Investigation Agency has registered case No. RC-10/2017/NIA/DLI and the undersigned in investigating the case. It appears that you are acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case.”

“You are hereby directed to appear before the undersigned on 2nd November 2018 at 10:00 Hrs at Police Officers Mess, Humhama Srinagar in connection with investigation of the case.”

It is pertinent to mention that NIA had conducted a day-long raid at the residence of Anjuman Sharie president in September last year, after which protests had erupted in Budgam.
