DeM slams move

Srinagar: The judicial remand of Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson Aasiyeh Andrabi, its secretary general Nahida Nasreen and its spokesperson Fahmeeda Sofi which ended on November 1st has been extended by 15 days, the party said.
A spokesperson of DeM Rifat Fatima in a statement said that the remand of its leadership was supposed to end on Thursday. “However the District & Session Judge, NIA special court, New Delhi extended the remand and fixed the next date of hearing as November 15,” she said
The spokesperson said that the proceedings were held through a video conference.
DeM criticised the government and NIA for unnecessary and “vengeful judicial remand” of Aasiyeh Andrabi and associates.
“Since July 6, the NIA is just seeking extension after extension of these women leaders just to prolong their detention,” she added.
She said that the NIA has failed to produce anything substantial before the court. “The authorities must understand that Aasiyeh isn’t just a person but an ideology,” the spokesperson stated.
