Amendments in Municipal Act politically motivated: Mir

Srinagar: Describing the Amendment in Municipal Act as politically motivated, the Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) President Ghulam Hassan Mir on Friday said that the move will give rise to the horse trading and will hamper the credibility of the members.

In a statement issued here this morning, Mir said that the state of Jammu and Kashmir has reached a place where secret ballot for higher institutions was done away with the intention to avoid cross voting but by this amendment this “menace” has been encouraged.

“Governor should have not done this Amendment,” he said.

The DPN President also condemned the killing of BJP leader and his brother at Kishtwar and termed their killings as an inhuman act.

“There is an ulterior motive to divide us on communal lines,” he said, while urging the government to nab the culprits at an earliest.
