Pampore: Dozens of illegal structures were demolished at Lethpora area on the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Wednesday in a joint anti-encroachment drive by Revenue officials, Muncipal Committee Pampore and RMKY.
The drive was carried out from Lethpora to Barsoo in which several shops and other structures falling in the alignment of the national highway were demolished, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The demolition drive was headed by the Tehsildar Pampore Younis Ahmad Bangroo.
Bangroo told Kashmir Reader that they had warned the encroachers to demolish the structures themselves or face the music.
“I once again appeal people not to encroach upon the highway land and any such step would just waste their resources only,” Bangroo said.
The district administration has imposed a blanket ban on illegal constructions along the highway and declared the stretch from Kadlabal, Pampore to Mirzapur as no construction zone.
