Shopian’s Koul brings laurels to Kashmir in Goa Golf Carnival

Shopian: For the first time, a Kashmiri Pandit, Arun Koul, has won two prizes in the golf during the Goa Golf carnival held last week.

Hailing from main town of Shopian in this southern Kashmir’s district, Koul belongs to renowned Janki Nath-Prem Nath business family (J.N.P.N); a household name in Shopian for apple and walnut business. Koul, according to family is still connected with roots for that he often visits his home land and is a well known walnut importer and exporter.

To give a flip to sports tourism, a mega golf tournament was held in the beach resort of Canacona in Goa where Koul bagged two prizes of the tournament.

On 26 of this month, Koul did straightest drive Hole 8 hit and on 27th he became victorious in longest drive.

Played over two days –October 26 and 27, the tournament brought the spirit of golfing in Goa.
