Srinagar: The chairman of Muslim League Masarat Aalam Bhat was on Tuesday brought from Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu to Srinagar for the hearing of a case lodged against him in 2015, the party said.
“Aalam was produced in Forest Court and after hearing the arguments, the judge fixed the next hearing on November 20,” the spokesperson Sajad Ayobi said in a statement.
He said after hearing, ML chairman was shifted back to Jammu jail.
The spokesperson added that the state as well as Government of India sets new policies and methods for Masarat Alam’s continued imprisonment under “baseless” cases which is “worst kind of human rights violation and highly condemnable”.
“The government is deliberately doing it under a plan,” he alleged, “so that he is not released by the court,” adding: instead of honouring court orders, authorities are ignoring all norms and rules.
“Alam is being subjected to political vendetta,” he said.
The spokesperson appealed the rights defender bodies to take note of the his (Alam’s) “illegal detention”.
