Srinagar: Suspected militants late Tuesday evening attacked the residence of a politician in southern Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Sources said that suspected militants attacked Ex-Congress district President Muhammad Shafi Banday’s residence at Bon-bazar area of Shopian with a grenade. They said the grenade was followed by intense firing.

However, no loss of life or injury to any person was reported in the incident.

Meanwhile, forces have rushed to the spot and the area has been cordoned off.

Earlier this year on July 27, militants had decamped with three rifles from the policemen guarding Banday’s residence.
