Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) has failed to conduct the interview for a few dozen posts advertised more than a year ago leaving hundreds of candidates fuming.
The JAKEDA- administered by the Department of Science and Technology- had advertised various posts under different categories in September, 2017.
The posts were advertised by the JAKEDA under 12 categories including Senior Technical Officer, Research Assistant, Legal Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Statistical Assistant, Assistant Engineer and Junior Assistant.
The candidates who had applied for the posts told Kashmir Reader that the recruitment process was stuck after the JAKEDA notified the provisional merit list for the written test conducted in March this year.
“For some posts having a single vacancy, they had even verified the documents, but the selection list is yet to be notified as they are yet to conduct our interview,” a candidate said.
After the written test was conducted in March, the JAKEDA had issued a shortlist of the candidates for the posts in June on the basis of written test only.
However, in August this year, the agency issued a revised shortlist of the candidates after incorporating weightage for higher academic qualification of the candidates as recommended by the advertisement notification.
The JAKEDA has failed to conduct the interview even after directions from the government’s grievance cell where the candidates had registered a complaint, a candidate alleged.
“The government had forwarded our complaint to the Science and Technology department, but the process is still pending,” he said.
“It has been more than a year already. When will they conduct the interview and come up with the selection list?” a candidate asked.
The JAKEDA, a candidate alleged, had cited “fall of government” in the state for the delay in conducting the interview for the posts.
“I approached the JAKEDA office several times, but the uncertainty over the final selection list continues,” he added.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer JAKEDA, Muzaffar Ahmad Malik told Kashmir Reader that they had hired a consulting agency for the selection of the candidates. He however did not identify the consultancy.
Chief Executive Officer, JAKEDA, Dr P R Dhar could not be contacted as his phone was switched off.
