Pulwama/Srinagar: A Jammu and Kashmir police intelligence officer and a PDP activist were shot dead by militants on Sunday in two separate attacks in Kashmir.

The slain police officer identified as sub-inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir son of Jalal-u-din Mir, a resident of Sontbughwas posted with the police’s CID in Srinagar.

He was the youngest son, among three siblings of a retired police official and was yet to get married.

As per police reports the slain was travelling in his private car-a Hyundai I10, bearing number JK01AD 3852-when he was intercepted by militants in Wahibugh.

“He was apparently forced to leave his car and taken a little distance, towards some orchards on the bank of Romshi Nallah, and was shot dead there,” a senior police official told Kashmir Reader.

His wreath laying ceremony was held at District Police Lines Pulwama.Civil and police officers led by Inspector General of Police SP Pani laid floral wreaths and paid rich tributes to the slain police officer, a police handout said.

Meanwhile, suspected militants on Sunday evening  shot dead a PDP worker on Srinagar outskirts. Locals in the area said that the PDP worker, identified as Mohammad Amin, was shot at by gunmen at Gangbugh in the city.

Amin was taken to hospital but doctors there declared him brought dead.

Superintendent of SKIMS Hospital Bemina, Dr Abida, told Kashmir Reader that Amin was declared brought dead at the hospital and that he had bullet injuries on his chest.

Soon after the attack, government forces cordoned off the area and carried searches to nab the assailants.

Amin was the father of three children. He ran a vegetable and grocery store outside his home.

A police spokespersons said a case has been registered a case in this regard and  investigation are on.

Former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti expressed condolences with the slain duo. “Again a young budding SI Imtiyaz Mir & Mohd Amin Dar, a political activist fell prey to the cycle of violence .Condemning these acts of violence & conveying my heartfelt  condolences to families of Mohd Amin Dar- our party activist and Sub Inspector Imtiyaz Mir of @JmuKmrPolice,” she tweeted.
