Srinagar: The Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman on Sunday lashed out at Indian army Chief General Bipin Rawat and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for their remarks on Kashmir.
“Faata Begum battling for her eyesight after a barrage of pellets hit her in her house! This is how Gen Rawat intends to keep Jammu and Kashmir a part of India… “And @arunjaitley ensures “Kashmiri people are on our side?” Mirwaiz wrote on his Twitter handle.
On Saturday, Gen Rawat had said that Indian Army, state was strong enough to ensure Jammu and Kashmir remains part of India. He had also threatened Pakistan saying if Islamabad continues to support cross-border militancy, then the Indian Army can resort to “other actions” too.
Echoing somehow similar view, Finance Minister Jaitley had said the people of Kashmir ought to stand with the government and not with the separatists in the fight against militancy.
Slamming the statement of Army chief Bipin Rawat that protestors in Kashmir would be dealt sternly, the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai said “a full scale war has been declared on civilian population in Kashmir to silence the voices of dissent and to crush freedom sentiments”.
