Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Commissioner Peerzada Hafizullah Shah on Saturday took stock of sanitation and drainage works in the city.
Commissioner Hafizullah visited the shrine of saint Hamza Makhdoom Sahib and passed directions on sanitation measures in the wake of ongoing urs at the shrine. He also reviewed the steps taken by the SMC, a statement issued by SMC said.
Shah also assessed the ongoing projects under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) in Srinagar’s Shiv Pora and Indira Nagar. He directed the SMC officials to expedite the work to meet the deadline.
The Commissioner also sought inputs from the SMC official on ongoing anti-encroachment drives being carried out in parts of Srinagar. He directed the officials to discourage bids by residents to encroach on the government property.
The Commissioner directed the anti-encroachment team to speed up measures to clear the encroached pedestrian pathways in the city.
He also passed order to designate a fresh parking lot near Khalsa School, Magarmal Bagh, which would benefit local shopkeepers, and directed to undertake sanitation measures in the area.
