POONCH: In view of the upcoming Panchayat Elections in district, District Panchayat Election Officer, Rahul Yadav in a press conference here at DC office, Poonch on Saturday informed that 61 nominations for Sarpanchs and 206 nominations for Panchs have been received for the first phase poll so far.
While interacting with the media persons, the DPEO cleared the misconceptions among the people regarding the requirement of documents such as fitness certificate, character certificate and PRC for the nomination in Panchayat Elections and said that there is no requirement of such documents.
He maintained that the requirement for filing of nomination is the name of candidate in the voter’s list with the ROs and AROs. He further informed that the security deposit for Panchayat Elections is Rs 1000 for General Category person and Rs 500 for women, ST and SC Category person.
The DPEO informed that the Elections in Poonch will be held in seven Phases in which Elections in Bufliaz and Surankote will be held in first Phase on November17, Mandi and Loran will observe Panchayat Elections in 2nd phase on November 20, third phase will cover Sathra and Nangali Sahib Sai Baba on November 24, Tehsil Poonch will observe Panchyat Elections in Fourth phase on November 27 whereas Lasasana will be covered in Fifth phase on November 29. Panchyat Elections in Balakote and Mankote will be held in Sixth phase on December 1st and in the last phase, the polls will be observed at Menhdar.
He appealed to people to participate in maximum number and make Panchayat elections successful in the district like Municipal Elections.
