CASO sets off violent protests in north Kashmir’s Sopore

Sopore: Violent protests broke out in Zaloora area of this north Kashmir Township after government forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) this morning.

A joint team of army’s 22 RR, special operations group (SOG) of police and CRPF laid a cordon around Zaloora area here this morning and started a search operation amid inputs about the movement of militants in the area, reports said.

While the search operation was underway,groups of youth hit the streets and staged a protest, reports said.

Angry protesters hurled rocks at the government forces triggering off clashes. The clashes were going on when this report was filed.
