SRINAGAR: SKUAST-K scientists, Research scholars bagged most awards under different categories at the Three Day International conference ‘Worldwide Research Initiatives for Agriculture, Science & Technology’ held at KU.
The conference was organized by National Agriculture Cooperative Limited in collaboration with University of Kashmir, SKUAST-K, Department of Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Department and sponsored by J&K Bank.
Around 200 scientists and equal number of research scholars attended and deliberated on various emerging issue in agriculture and allied sectors in the conference.
According to organizing chairman, Prof F.A. Matto, the conference was organized to provide a common platform for young, emerging and senior scientist to discuss upon various challenges and opportunities in agricultural sector.
“We received more than expected number of delegates from different backgrounds and it is hoped the conference deliberations will go a long way in achieving the desired goals,” he added.
Conference Director, Dr R. A. Shah, on the occasion said that he is hopeful of translating the recommendations made in the conference to redress issues confronting Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.
Prof Raihana Habib Kanth, Chief Scientist Agronomy received the distinguished scientist award while Parvaiz Ahmed Reshi, Scientist (Animal Science) receivedExcellence in Extension Award. Dr Gowher Gull Sheikh, Assistant Prof, Animal Nutrition, SKUAST-K received Best Scientist Award.
Besides Many Research scholars from SKUAST-K received young scientist, best thesis awards and best presentation awards.
The organisers and the dignitaries present congratulated awardees.
