Narayana Superspeciality hospital introduces Brachytherapy for cancer patients

Jammu: Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital Friday stated that it has launched a state of the art treatment therapy for cancer known as Interstitial Brachytherapy.
Brachytherapy is a radiation therapy treatment technique which is used for controlling cancers of several sites, said Dr Man Mohan Harjai, chief administrative officer of the hospital in a statement.
Speaking about the treatment modality Dr Vikas Roshan, consultant radiation oncology, said, “This technique involves minimal hospital stay where a patient is required to stay for just two days in the hospital and the chances of cure are very high as high dose of radiotherapy can be given in short span of time. Particularly in case of gynaecology malignancy the overall treatment time is very important and with the help of this technique, the treatment time is further reduced.”
The Brachytherapy treatment has always remained standard of care for cervical cancer from ages, he informed. “As this is a highly skill dependent procedure but at the same time gives key satisfying results in cancer patients.
