Srinagar: A massive cordon and search operation has been launched by a joint team of government forces at Dreed-Kalipora (DK Pora) village of southern Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that a joint team of forces including 34 Rashtriya Rifles were conducting the searches in the village. An army officer said that more forces are rushing towards the village.

He said that a cordon was laid after ‘intelligence inputs about presence of militants’ in the village.

Meanwhile, witnesses said that scores of youth hit streets and pelted government forces with stones. The forces retaliated by lobbing tear smoke shells to disperse them. The clashes were going on when this report was being filed.
