Bandipora: Army, police and paramilitary troops on Friday conducted searches for militants in Hajin and Aragam villages of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, but found no one.
In the wee hours of Friday, a cordon and search operation (CASO) was carried out in Khos Mohalla locality of the volatile Hajin town. Door-to-door searches were conducted, witnesses said.
Official sources said that the searches at Khos Mohalla were conducted by the army’s 13RR Battalion stationed in the town, the special operations group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, and paramilitary CRPF.
According to the officials, the searches were conducted on specific inputs of presence of militants in the area. However, the searches yielded nothing and concluded “peacefully”, the officials added.
The same army unit had also conducted searches in Hajin town’s nearby Bhangar Mohalla locality on Thursday afternoon, which also didn’t yield anything.
While the searches were still being conducted at Hajin, government forces launched another search operation in Aragam village of Bandipora town. The searches, according to officials, were carried out by the army’s 20 Grenadiers and police SOG inside Langer Mohalla locality of the village. The search operation continued for a few hours but didn’t yield anything. It, too, concluded peacefully, officials said.
