Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Yasin Malik was taken for a medical check-up after his health deteriorates in the police custody, the party said on Thursday.
“On Thursday Police took Malik for a health check-up and after investigation he was diagnosed with severe intestinal infection. He has been put on high antibiotics and advised to take complete rest. He was again shifted to police station,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
While expressing serious concern over the failing health of Malik, he said that putting him (Malik) behind the bars has become a daily routine and this has taken a heavy toll on his health and wellbeing.
He said that New Delhi is not allowing political dissent and whosoever tries to raise his or her voice, is crushed.
However, he said a party delegation visited Sangam and Srigufwara in south Kashmir and met with the bereaved families of slain militant Sabzar Ahmad and Asif Ahmad Gojri and expressed solidarity with them.
