State Chess Championship: 8 players to represent JK in National championship

SRINAGAR: The State Chess Championship 2018 concluded at Sheri Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar.
The championship was sponsored by J&K State Sports Council and was observed and monitored by officials of J&K State Sports Council.
Soham Kamotra secured 1st position, Sumit Grover bagged 2nd position, while Khalid Amin secured 3rd position, and Shashi Pal Sharma secured 4th position.
Ajit Singh, Ankush Bhardwaj, Adil Ashraf and Ashutosh Janwal secured 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th positions, respectively.
Chief Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council Haji Abdul Qayoom was chief guest who distributed cash prizes, trophies, and certificate among the participants.
Central Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council, Gazala, Manager Sheri- Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar, Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar Masood Ahmad (City Field Officer) Srinagar Shafat Shafi (Assistant Manager /Judo Coach), Farooq Ahmad Dhar veteran chess player of the J&K State, Amin Mahajan (Manager) were guest of honour.
Besides this prize distribution for Kashmir province Chess Championship 2018 was also held ,which concluded on October 8, in which participants were also awarded with cash prize ,trophies and certificate. Eight players have been selected for state senior category chess championship 2018, who will represent J&K State in Senior National “A” Chess Championship 2018 to be held at Jammu.
