1, 37, 481 students appearing in exams conducted by SIE

Srinagar: More than one lakh students are appearing in the class 8th and 9th examinations that began Thursday in Kashmir division.
A statement issued by Education department said that a total of 1, 37, 481 students from government and private schools are appearing in the annual examination for Class 8th and 9th conducted by SIE Kashmir for which 1981 examination centres have been established. Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G.N. Itoo accompanied by Principal SIE Kashmir Mehboob Hussain, Chief Education Officer Srinagar Mudasir Kaleem Fazili and other officers of the department visited several examination centres in Srinagar and took stock of the arrangements.
During his visit to the centres at GHSS Rajbagh and BHSS Jawahar Nagar DSEK interacted with students appearing in the examination about the facilities being provided to them.
Itoo directed the invigilators to provide conducive environment for the students.
He said that no indiscipline in any form affecting the smooth conduct of examinations shall be tolerated. DSEK added that the monitoring teams under the supervision of the Joint Directors have been constituted to ensure the smooth conduct of examinations and shall visit different districts of Kashmir Division and inspect the examination centres regularly.
Principal SIE Kashmir who is also the incharge of examinations said that about 1,37,481 students are appearing in the examinations across the Kashmir Division including Leh and Kargil.
