Violent protests break out near gunfight site in north Kashmir’s Kreeri

Baramulla: Violent protests have erupted in Kreeri village of this north Kashmir district where government forces and militants are engaged in a fierce gun-battle.

Scores of residents, mostly youth took to streets in Utoora and its adjoining villages of Kreeri this morning and staged a protest against the ongoing anti-militancy operation, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. Angry youth shouting pro-freedom slogans pelted rocks at the government forces.

The government forces lobbed tear gas canisters to disperse the stone pelting protesters.
