Srinagar: The J&K Bar Association, Srinagar, Wednesday expressed concern over the “unabated killings and excesses by forces” in Kashmir, and slammed the world community for its silence.
“In the backdrop of what happened at Nowgam, the Bar members in meeting held here on Wednesday stated that every day one or the other Kashmiri is being killed in a cordon and search operations and the world community is watching the scenario silently and without showing any concern for such killings,” the statement said.
“It was further stated that highly qualified Kashmiris have taken to guns only because the long pending issue of Kashmir is awaiting its settlement for the last seventy years,” it reads.
The Bar members while demanding for an immediate end to human rights violations, appealed the human rights organizations to intervene.
“To show their solidarity with the cause and register their protest against the killings, The Bar members abstained from court work on Wednesday,” the statement said.
