Srinagar: A one-day forest seed diversity event was organised by State Forest Research Institute (SFRI) at NIC Dachigam here on Tuesday.
In a statement a spokesperson of the SFRI said the main features of the event included a woodland walk into Dachigam forest to observe nature and learn about forest. Director SFRI, O P Sharma gave onsite information of different forest flora and their relationship with humans, he added.
A tree talk was also held under a robust Chinar tree. An interaction session was held where participants threw light on seed diversity. The session was presided over by Suresh Chugh, Principal Chief Conservator Forests and was graced by the attendance of senior forest officers besides representatives of Kashmir University, SKAUST Kashmir, herbal garden network coordinator and other nature lovers.
Seed specimens of different forest flora were kept on display. Prizes and certificates were distributed by the chief guest among the participants at the end of the function, the statement said.
