KC Hyundai unveils ‘The All New SANTRO’ in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: South Korean auto major Hyundai on Tuesday relaunched its once popular hatchback, Santro, in a new avatar in India, with introductory prices ranging between Rs 3.89 lakh and Rs 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom).
The company, which operates in India through its wholly-owned subsidiary Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), had discontinued the previous Santro model in December 2014.
The new car, which is powered by a four-cylinder 1.1 litre petrol engine, comes with automated manual transmission (AMT) and factory-fitted CNG fuel options.
The manual variants of the car are priced between Rs 3.89 lakh and Rs 5.45 lakh. The two CNG trims are tagged at Rs 5.23 lakh and Rs 5.64 lakh while the two variants with automated gear shift are priced at Rs 5.18 lakh and Rs 5.46 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
In Srinagar, ‘The All New SANTRO’ was unveiled at K C Hyundai by Branch Head, J&K State Cooperative Bank Ltd, Mir Bashir in presence of delegates from media fraternity, MD KC Group, Raju Chowdhary, CEO, Sohail Khan, Ali Mohammad Dar, Asif Shah, Sheikh Ruhail, Shabeer Ahmad Barati, Asif Rashid and a huge gathering of bankers, dignitaries, customers and the company staff during thelaunching ceremony.
“The All New SANTRO is a perfect combination of ‘Six Pillars’ – Modern Stylish Tall Boy Design, Comfortable & Premium Cabin, New Age Technology, Customer Centric Safety, All Round Performance and Complete Peace of Mind,” an official handout read.
“It is aimed at family-buyers who seek utmost comfort with spacious cabin feel without compromising on styling,” it read, adding that the strong customer-centric safety with ‘Strong Body Structure’ coupled with ‘New Age Technology’ and cabin comfort gives The ALL NEW SANTRO a competitive edge.
Speaking at the launch of ‘The All New SANTRO’, MD KC Group, Raju Chowdhary, said, “The SANTRO is an iconic and legendary brand in India that has won the hearts of millions of customers for last two decades. The magic of SANTRO continues receiving overwhelming response.”

‘The All New SANTRO’ also meets the ‘Pedestrian Safety’ norm, lower stiffener is applied to front crash beam to improve on the pedestrian safety. Additionally, standard ABS with EBD and driver’s airbag provide uncompromised safety, the handout further read.
The All New SANTRO is equipped with the most reliable and durable 4-Cylinder 1.1 Litre petrol engine offering 69ps of power with low vibrations, superior performance and high fuel efficiency.
“Mated with option of MT and in-house developed ‘Smart Auto AMT’ transmissions, the power train provides efficient, peppy, smooth and convenient option for a Relaxed and Pleasant driving experience,” it read.
‘The All New SANTRO’ will be the first Hyundai model to offer in-house developed ‘Smart Auto AMT’ technology in Hyundai range of products offering unmatched comfort without compromising on fuel efficiency. The car will also have option for Factory fitted CNG (60 L water equivalent) for “enhanced reliability and greater peace of mind”, it added.
