SRINAGAR: The joint resistance leadership (JRL) has called for march towards Laroo village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday to express solidarity with the families of civilians killed due to a mine blast near encounter site on Sunday.
JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement said the march to Kulgam is to convey to the people of Laroo that the people of entire Kashmir are with them and share their grief and pain and that they are not alone against the “ultimate repression unleashed to crush people’s demand for the right to self-determination”.
JRL said that on October 26, Friday, the imams of all shrines, masjids and imambaras across Kashmir will raise their voice against the killing of innocent people in Kulgam and also stage peaceful protests after Friday prayers against the bloodshed in Kulgam. “The imams should lead special prayers for all martyrs of Kashmir especially those martyred recently at Kulgam,” it said.
“On October 27, Saturday, the ‘black day of Kashmir history’ will be observed as ‘Occupation Day’ as it was on this day in 1947 that Indian troops landed in Kashmir to occupy us and our land,” the leadership said adding that a complete protest strike will be observed on that day.
JRL has also appealed to Kashmir Diaspora to observe the Day in solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren and educate the people in their respective countries about Kashmir dispute and “grave human rights abuses” here, through posters, banners and placards.
