Srinagar: The members of J&K Bar Association, Srinagar held a sit-in protest on Tuesday outside High Court premises here to register their protest against the civilian killings and forces’ excesses in south Kashmir.
Bar in a statement demanded an immediate end to killings, and called for an independent enquiry into Kulgam civilian killings.
“Those who spoke on the occasion included M.A. Qayoom (advocate and President), Z. A. Shah, Mushtaq Ahmad Maqdoomi, Arshad Andrabi and Nazir Ahmad Tabassum, and all stressed for the need of resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of the people to bring an immediate end to the sufferings and miseries of the people,” the statement said.
The Bar members, it reads, expressed solidarity with the people of Kulgam, Fateh Kadal, Baramulla and Kupwara and demanded that the international community should play its role in resolving Kashmir issue to avoid the possibility of a nuclear war between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue.
