Srinagar: Three militants have been killed in the ongoing encounter at Laroo village of Kulgam in southern Kashmir.
Police sources confirmed the killing of three militants. They said that the identity of the slain militants is being ascertained.
two army soldiers have also been injured during the gunfight.
Meanwhile reports said that scores of civilians have suffered injuries during clashes with the government forces near the encounter site.
Earlier, sources said that a gunfight broke out after the forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Laroo village, barely six km from main town, following information about the presence of militants in the area.
“As the cordon was tightened, the militants fired at the forces, triggering a gunfight in which two soldiers were wounded,” he said, adding that the injured were shifted to a hospital.
Internet and phone services have been suspended in the district.
