Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday said that government forces replicated the scenes of Karbala in Kulgam district of southern Kashmir.

Mirwaiz took to twitter and said that the killing of five civilians and three armed youth is sufficient to shake the conscience of the world. He questioned: “For how long will the blood of Kashmiris spill?”

Mirwaiz was referring to the mayhem in Kulgam where 8 people were killed including three militants.

While the three militants were killed in a gunfight with government forces, three of the slain civilians were killed when an unexploded shell burst near the gunfight site. Two other civilians were killed in clashes with government forces.

Besides, dozens of civilians have suffered injuries, including any with bullets, during intense clashes with the forces in Kulgam and adjoining areas.

Many of the injured have been referred to Srinagar hospitals for treatment.
