Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday expressed grief over the loss of lives in Kulgam.
“Terrible news coming out from Kulgam.May the deceased find place in Jannat.Alienating the people in the fight against militancy is a sure fire recipe for losing the fight. How long can we go on ignoring the ground realities & living in denial about how bad things are in Kashmir? (SIC), Omar tweeted.
Five civilians were killed near the site of gunfight in Kulgam early today after government forces killed 3 militants in the encounter. The three militants have been identified as locals and were active with militant outfit Jaish e Muhammad.
Three of the five civilians were killed in a blast near gunfight site, while two others were killed during clashes with government forces.
