Gunfight rages in Kulgam; Mobile services barring BSNL suspended, clashes erupt

Kulgam:  Gunfight raged in Laroo village of Kulgam in southern Kashmir on Sunday morning between government forces and militant. 

Reports said that an army soldier was injured in the initial exchange of fire. 

Authorities have suspended internet services in the district and have imposed curfew around gunfight site. 

Sources said that a joint contingent of Army’s 9RR, CRPF and SOG of JK police,  over a specific input laid a Cordon and Search Operation in the area. They said that during the searches militants fired on the forces triggering a gunfight. “3-4 militants are believed to be trapped.”

Soon after the exchange of gunfire, clashes erupted in the area prompting the authorities to snap mobile services in the district barring state run BSNL.
