Reacting over the majority secured by the Congress, MLA Bandipora Usman Majid said people had defeated communal politics.
“It was my appeal to them (people) that they protect us from these communal forces and it is they who have won today. I am thankful to them and the Congress will flourish in the upcoming elections too,” Majid said.
He said that the NC and PDP were responsible for bringing communal forces to Kashmir and they had given clear ground to communal forces by boycotting the municipal elections. “It was us who stood up against these forces despite unfavourable circumstances and fear among people,” Majid said.
