Bandipora housewife death: Husband, in-laws arrested, booked for ‘abetting suicide’

Bandipora: Police has booked and arrested the husband and in-laws of a woman who died of burn injuries in northern Kashmir’s Bandipora recently.
The parents of Rehana, 35, had accused the in laws of burning her to death.
Police, however, has booked the husband M Lafeef Baba, resident of Ahmesharief village, mother-in-law and two sisters-in law for “abetting suicide and subjecting her to cruelty”.
The four have been booked under FIR No. 140/2018/under section 498-A and 306 RPC, a police official said.
Rehana, a Multipurpose Health Worker (FMPHW), and mother of three children was brought to the Bandipora hospital with grievous burn injuries on October 6 and was shifted to SKIMS hospital in Srinagar where she succumbed the next day.
Rehana’s parents alleged that she had been subjected to constant harassment since she was married nine years ago.
Police had constituted a SIT headed by DySp in the case. The Forensic Science Laboratory report of the case is still awaited.
