Baramulla: Army on Saturday displayed arms and ammunition said to be recovered from five militants killed in a gunfight along the line of control in Uri sector on Thursday.
In a press conference at brigade headquarters Rampora, Commanding Officer (CO), 161 Company, Ashotosh said that on Thursday morning army came across a group of militants near Torna post over the Boniyar hills.
He said the militants fired on troops after they were challenged, and in retaliatory fire three militants were killed.
The army, he said, launched a search in which they found the bodies of three “heavily armed” militants.
“The body of fourth one may be in thick forests and search is still on,” he said, adding that no armyman was injured in the gunfight. The displayed arms include 4 AK47 rifles, with magazines, along with fast food and medicines (Pakistan made).
He said a heavy wire cutter was also recovered from the encounter spot.
