Srinagar : Wullar Blues Football Club lifts title trophy by beating Hamdania Football club by a solitary goal in the final of 3rd Shah Kalandar Memorial Football Tournament played at Hygam Sopore on Friday.
In the closely contested final, forwards of both the teams attacked each other’s’ goal post from both the flanks right from the start. The defence lines were always under pressure but they ensured that no damage was done by either side . The goalkeepers made some brilliant saves and at the end of the first half the score line read 0-0.
After the break, Wullar Blues players changed their strategy and mounted attack after attack on Hamdania Blues goal post and Striker Inam from Wulllar Blues managed to breach the defence lines of Hamdania Blues and scored deciding goal for his team. Trailing by a goal, the Hamdania Blues players launched counter attacks on opposite goal post, but failed to cross the final hurdle. The last 10-minutes of the match enthralled the large crowd present at the venue as no team was ready to give an inch. However, when the referee blew the final whistle, Wullar Blues were leading by 1-0. Inam was the difference between the two teams who was declared as player of the match for his performance .
