Army goes ‘berserk’ in south Kashmir’s Pulwama after IED blast

Pulwama: Dozens of villagers of Trichal area here were allegedly thrashed by army after seven of their men were injured in an IED blast triggered by militants on Thursday night.

The residents told Kashmir Reader on Friday that the soldiers went on “rampage” after an IED blast triggered by militants injured seven soldiers in Trichal village on Friday night. They alleged that army men barged into houses and thrashed inmates irrespective of age and gender.

Over two dozen people, the residents said were allegedly beaten up by the soldiers. House hold goods too were ransacked by the army men to vent their anger after the attack, they said.

Meanwhile, the doctors at the district hospital confirmed that 20 injured people were brought to the hospital for treatment on Thursday night.

Army’s Srinagar based PRO Rajesh Kalia told Kashmir Reader that the allegations of highhandedness by the soldiers were being ascertained.
