2 militants killed in gunfight in north Kashmir’s Baramulla

Baramulla: Two militants on Friday were killed in a brief gun-battle near the railway station in this north Kashmir Township.

A police party was checking vehicles near the railway station in Kralhar area of the district when they interacted two militants travelling in a car, official sources told Kashmir Reader. The militants, they said opened fire upon the search team.

“In the retaliatory fire, both militants were killed,” official sources said.

Sources said both the militants were on their way to Srinagar when intercepted by the government forces.

Meanwhile, army, special operations group (SOG) of police have cordoned off the area and restricted the movement of traffic on Srinagar Muzafarabad highway.

SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain confirmed death of two militants in the encounter.

“1 UBGL fitted AK 47 and 2 Chinese pistols have been recovered from the spot,” he said.
