Srinagar: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a militant responsible for a grenade attack in north Kashmir’s Pattan that left a police officer and two cops injured.
Faizan Majeed Bhat of Naibug Tral was arrested after he threw a grenade on a police checkpoint along the Srinagar-Baramulla highway near Pattan this afternoon, a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here this evening. In the grenade attack Dy Sp Zaffar Mehdi and two policemen Shabir Ahmad and Ashiq Hussain were injured.
Bhat, who joined militant ranks on October 3rd, was caught by the police after a chase while his associate Showkat Ahmad Bhat of Awantipora managed to escape, the spokesperson said.
He said both were associated with Tehreek-ul- Mujahideen militant outfit.
