Srinagar: A spontaneous shutdown is being observed in parts of Srinagar city on Wednesday after two militants, a ‘civilian’ and a policeman was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Fateh Kadal area of Downtown in Srinagar.
Sources said that a strict shutdown is being observed in Srinagar city. While all the major markets of the city didn’t open this morning, public transport mostly remained off the roads.
Sources said that the commercial hub of the Srinagar city Kara Nagar and the adjoining markets also didnt open today. Reports of shutdown were also received from city outskirts including Soura, Zakoora, Gulab Bagh and other areas.
Two militants, a civilian and a policeman was killed in the gunfight in Fateh Kadal in Srinagar in the wee hours on Wednesday.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the chairperson of his faction of Hurriyat said that the civilian was killed in cold-blood.
Meanwhile, sources said that the deployment of forces has been heightened in Srinagar city. “All the entry and exit points of the city have been sealed by the government forces.”
