JKPCC asks Punjab CM to ensure safety of Kashmiri students

SRINAGAR: The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President, G.A. Mir Sunday wrote to the Punjab chief minister – Capt. Amrinder Singh urging him to provide safe and peaceful atmosphere to students from Jammu and Kashmir across educational institutions in his state.
“He also asked him to take serious note of the unnecessary harassment of students,” the statement said. “Mir also sought action against those found involved in intimidating student from J&K.”
Mir, according to the statement, has wrote that “due to the deteriorating situation in Kashmir valley, hundreds of students have preferred to study in neighbouring States especially in Punjab to secure their future, but the harassment and unnecessary questioning will ruin their future”.
It said: The students need to be encouraged to carry on with their studies Mir said in a letter and asked the Punjab Government to take measure to put an end to the harassment of students from J&K.
