Polling touches 60% mark in Uri, 125 votes polled in south Kashmir’s Mattan

Srinagar: The border town of Uri recorded 60 percent polling while south Kashmir’s Mattan witnessed close to 3 percent in the third phase of urban and local body elections being held today amidst heightened security.

Till noon, 2117 votes out of 3552 were polled at the booths set up by the authorities here for the municipal committee Uri elections here in this north Kashmir district, officials told Kashmir Reader. Among the voters, 1096 were male and 1021 females. The poll percentage was 59.69 till noon.

However, in the 7 wards of municipal committee Mattan only 125 votes were cast till noon.
