North Kashmir’s Uri records 75.33% polling, Srinagar lowest at 1.8 percent

Srinagar: The border town of Uri witnessed highest poll percentage while Srinagar recorded the lowest in the third phase of municipal and local body polls held today amid tight security and a lockdown.

The Uri municipal committee elections recorded voter turnout of 75.33 at the end of the polling, officials told Kashmir Reader. At 4 pm, when polling time concluded, 1328 male and 1348 registered female voters had cast their ballot.

The poll percentage at the end of the polling time was 75.33.

Meanwhile, Srinagar boycotted the municipal polls as a meager 1.8 percent polls were cast till the voting ended today amid unprecedented security arrangements . Not even a single vote was cast at many polling booths in Old City of Srinagar.
