Srinagar: Senior resistance leader and chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed pain and anguish over the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Mannan Wani and his associate in a gunfight.
In a statement issued here, Mirwaiz said that the martyrdom of young and educated youth, who are great assets of the nation, is deeply painful loss. The senior resistance leader also lashed out at the authorities over the frequent closure of historic Jamia Masjid .
Terming the move “anti- Muslim and autocratic”, Mirwaiz said that it was for the 15th time this year that congregational Friday prayers were not allowed at the historic mosque.
He also appealed prominent rights organisations across the world and also the OIC to intervene into the “serious violation” of the fundamental religious rights of Kashmiris.
